Scope of Policy Personal information is information about an identifiable individual, such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. This privacy policy is not intended to cover information other than personal information, such as business or anonymous information. This website provides general information to:

  • lawyers licensed to practice in Canada or the United States of America, who have sufficient competence, experience and professional ability to draft basic wills in their jurisdiction(s) of practice (“Lawyers”); and
  • frontline healthcare workers in Canada or the United States, who are seeking information about lawyers in their jurisdiction who can assist them with basic wills, on a pro bono (no cost) basis, during the COVID-19 pandemic (“Healthcare Workers”).

As described below, if you are not a participating Lawyer, you should not provide us with personal information.

Consent We will obtain your consent (through this privacy policy or other means) to collect, use or disclose personal information except where we are authorized or required by law to do so without consent.

Personal Information We Collect

We only collect personal information in a form that identifies you when you proactively provide it, such as by filling out the Add Your Law Firm form on our website or contacting us by email.   We only request the name and professional contact information of participating Lawyers. We take reasonable steps to handle such information in accordance with this privacy policy and applicable Canadian or American laws.   Please be mindful of the following guidelines and minimize the amount of personal information, if any, you send us:  

  • Healthcare Workers and all individuals other than Lawyers who wish to have their information posted on our website should not provide us with any personal information.
  • Lawyers should only submit such professional contact information as they would be comfortable seeing published on our website.
  • We do not provide legal advice or services. We are not involved in any pro bono legal services that may be offered by the Lawyers whose information appears on our website. Therefore, we do not collect or receive any personal information shared by Healthcare Workers or others with participating Lawyers.
  • Our website provides general information to facilitate the connection of Lawyers who wish to provide pro-bono work to Healthcare Workers in Canada and the United States. Individuals in other countries should not provide us with personal information.

When you use our website we may automatically collect technical information about you (but which does not identify you), such as information about your internet connection, device, and usage of the website, through cookies, similar technologies and data analytics software.   How We Use Personal Information We use personal information for limited purposes, including:

  • to communicate with you, including if you subscribe to newsletters, updates or otherwise ask to be kept informed of developments;

  • if you are a participating Lawyer, to add, manage or remove your information from our website;

  • as part of operating the website, to service providers such as cloud services, hosting or data analytics or storage providers;
  • where authorized or required by law, such as for fraud and other crime prevention, to comply with laws, regulations, court rules, and professional obligations, to assist law enforcement, or to collect a debt.
